Cycling  Gear Checklist

Always be certain that the equipment you are taking including your bike, is appropriate for the type of trip you are planning. If you have any question regarding this you should have contact a local club that participate in the same kind of riding. If nothing else take your bike to repair and sales shop and get their opinion. They will almost certainly find something you need. Remember you want to travel light.

Use this checklist to get organized before you take a bike trip. We are assuming this is at least an overnight or multi-day trip.

Cycling Gear
     Water  (camel packs or 2 sports bottle minimum) Consider having electrolyte in at least one
     Bike Helmet
     Sunglasses (eye protection)
     Change of clothes to match the weather (consider specialty clothes- short, socks, jacket, gloves)
     Personal effects and medical needs
     First Aid Kit  - see the one that we are giving away
     Bike lock (especially in populated areas
     Bicycle tool kit (Purchase one that will work on your bike - They are not all the same)
     Tube patch kit and spare tube
     Tire  Pump
     Spare spokes
     Riding lights with spare batteries and bulb (clear in the front and flashing red rear)
     Food (High energy bars, lightweight reconstitutable meals)
     Overnight gear for multi day excursions (Tent, Sleeping Bag, backpack stove, utensils)
     For long or overnight rides consider front or rear pannier carrier and bags or at least a handlebar bag.
     Straps or bungee cords to secure gear
     Water purification tablets
     Take a Daypack  it will save you from always having to dig into your saddlebags.
