Every since we started this website to connect active people
with the things they enjoy most, we have posted many short blips about events we
thought you might want to know at the time.
We used to just delete them and insert something more current, however we have
been getting emails from viewers who wanted to know what happened to the mini
articles. To help those that would like to see these, we have decided to start
archiving them by placing them here. Unfortunately some really good one are
lost.
This page is getting full so we have developed a new one called Archives 2 , this should help keep down the amount of time needed to open.

NASCAR - Talladega has it's first Ford in
7 years in the winner circle and driven by the same driver who brought in the
last one back in 1998 Dale
Jarrett . Jarrett
drove the UPS Ford #88 This win ends Dales 98 race dry spell with no wins. It was quite a race with only a handful of the original 128 cars crossing the line due to several multi car pile ups, one that sent Michael Waltrip flipping down the track. Kyle Petty in #45 spun out causing the caution flag to come out just before the leaders crossed the finish line, Petty's car was torn up from the spin out but he managed to coax it, albeit sideways, down the track to cross the finish line and complete the race. | Hurricane Rita struck the Eastern Texas mainland during the night of 9/24/05 at approximately 3:30 AM. with category 3 winds. Again most of the damage was from storm tides and the levees in New Orleans overtopped, and once again flooded the newly dried areas of the city. We covered the approach every few hours. |

Sand Storms in Iraq. This is what People over there (including the Coalition Soldiers) have to endure. Is it any wonder there is so much strife. |
| Hurricanes get Notoriety because they are named but many destructive storms occur in the mainland and are often accompanied by tornadoes get very little notice but they are every bit as dangerous. Phenomenal photos. |

Hurricane
Katrina brushed the Southern part of Florida with fortunately very little
damage. For that we are grateful.

This was the most wave action we could scrape out of the storm that is being called the storm of the century |
| Hurricane Katrina hit with winds of about 145 MPH or about 30 MPH less than forecasted but for those that lost their life or their property, it couldn't have been worse. Gulfport Mississippi and surrounding towns especially Biloxi, took the brunt of the storm as it skirted New Orleans where it was originally thought it would wreak it's havoc. New Orleans seemed to have escaped with minimal damage until the levees were breached and Lake Pontchartrain began flowing into the city. | |

| As most of you know the wut2 adventure team was on another road trip to gather information and conduct interviews of the activities and the participants, throughout a great portion of the continental US. | |
|
Below is a photo from our first stop at the private Wut2 campsite
"Timaway" in North Fl. that is one of the private campsites available
for rent. As you can see it is remote but has hookups (Electric, water and sewer) and
a large 24 X 22 foot concrete slab (we had to do some brush clean up). This site is very isolated and no neighbors
within 1 1/2 miles. Great hunting, hiking, biking or horseback riding ( 7
miles of dedicated riding trails plus miles of old tram trails lots of grazing
on Pensacola Bahia grass (high in protein)) |

This is our long term rig; a 23 foot Fleetwood Jamboree RV (the smaller size lets us get into wilderness areas and camp on a river bank or wherever) and our 24 foot gear trailer allows us to carry everything from canoes, bicycles, ATVs and even a little run about vehicle for day trips. We regret to report That a hiker died while hiking out of the Grand Canyon in 113 degree weather. We have a page regarding safety while Hiking and another page regarding treating a person who is suffering from Hyperthermia and other ailments that might befall the active person. |

Hats off to 11 year old Brennan Hawkins (a Boy Scout) For surviving 4 nights in the wilderness of the Utah mountains. Because of the stranger danger that our children are made aware of kept him from being found. Every time a search party came near, he hid. He managed to stave off hypothermia at night by squatting down and pulling his top dpwn over his knees to conserve energy. Fortunately he had been trained in survival skills and had some knowledge of which berries were safe to eat. |

June-6-05 We've just celebrated our 1 year anniversary. The site has really grown. We now have 3122 files, 2149 pictures, 20405 internal links and 9371 links to offsite locations, all to help make your visit here a good one. We use "New Windows" extensively to make it easier to navigate. |
