Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse:

A beautiful Teahouse in the Lake Louse area of Banff National Park. It was built in 1927  and was constructed from local rock and timbers and remains the same as it was back then. There is still no electricity ,TV or telephones. The teahouse is famous for it's afternoon tea and views of 6 glaciers

How to Get There:

Follow the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy. 1) from Calgary, Alberta,  West through beautiful Banff to the Lake Louise turn-off. Follow the signs for Lake Louise and Park at the Chateau. The hike begins from there.

Required Items to Bring:
Water, hiking boots, Walking stick, a friend, and some money for the pastries and other tasty morsels at the Teahouse or bring your own lunch but remember this is bear country. Use our Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

Allow 2 hours or more to make the 3.3 mile hike and reach the Teahouse. Plan to take a couple of breaks and enjoy the scenery. Using your map if you have one, head up the mountain past Mirror lake to Lake Agnes, where you find the teahouse. Delicious cookies, banana break and of course tea can be purchased here. They have a wonderful outdoor deck where you can sit at tables that have been in use since the place was built in 1927 . All the baked goods (which is what they are famous for) are made fresh daily and are sent up to the dining area by a hand operated dumbwaiter just the way it has always been.  The scenery from the deck is awesome. You can see where it gets its formal name Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse. You can see all six glaciers, from this quaint location tucked away amongst the mountains.

If you arrived early enough you may want to hike up the big beehive for and amazing view of the Bow Valley and Lake Louise. Seeing it from this side of the lake is spectacular.

Send us your pictures of this area.

Be sure to allow yourself enough time to make the return trip.
