California

Because of the variety of environments along with the jobs created by the diverse industry California has long been  one of the most desirable states to live in . You can enjoy a multitude activities in this state partly because of it's 900 miles of beaches along the Pacific ocean.  There are the cliffs that offer powerful updrafts and the elevation needed for a spectacular jumping off point for unfettered Paragliding and some of the greatest Hang gliding .

A multitude of operators or guides offer salt water activities like FishingScuba diving, Parasailing, Wind surfingBoating,  and more. There are certainly many activities that are most commonly are done without a guide such as Surfing, Beach Bumming, Boogie Boarding, Shell collecting, Beach parties and Sunbathing.  But as you move inland you go through such a variety of terrain that your options are nearly endless.

Getting away from the beaches in the southern portion of the state throws everything from river beds, rolling hills, vast parched wastelands( Mojave Desert), forests and the Sierra Nevada  mountains - forested - snowcapped -  dry and beyond them the state of Nevada where within a couple of hours you can be enjoying the casinos and all that they offer.

The northern portion gets  some of the same moisture that Washington and Oregon get from the Chinese Currents offshore  but to a lesser degree. This make for green flat to rolling vistas and beautiful forested Klamath Mountains. This gives way to the more arid Sacramento valley,  that is with the help of irrigation, an agricultural area.. Eastward you will again get into the Sierra Nevada mountains and the high desert country.

Skiing is a favorite pastime with many Californians. Fortunately they have a tremendous number of slopes to choose from. Some of the slopes are  world class such as Mammoth mountain  for the adept and Squaw Mountain for the more radical. Lake Tahoe region is blessed with 3 resorts  all within a short distance of each other. California is known for many of it's landmarks both manmade and natural.
