Mazda 20B Eccentric Shaft How to separate the eccentric shaft on a
20B?
The mazda 20B is a triple rotor Wankel type rotary engine. This engine wa not marketed in the North American mainland. Those racing enthusiasts or aircraft builders that want a more powerful engine than the Mazda 13B - 2 rotor powerplant will want to consider importing this engine from Japan. These come in used as they went out of production in 1993 and because they are wanted for high performance or reliability, most everyone will want to rebuild it. There abe books and even video tapes on how to rebuild the 13B but none dedicated to the 20B. Because most of the operations are the same on both engines we will only cover the differences between the 2 different models. Get the book (the Haynes Mazda Repair manual) and the video from Bruce Turrentine. The 2 engines are similar with the largest difference being that the front rotor assembly is added to the basic 2 rotor motor to become the 20B. The normal procedure is to disassemble a 13B starting from the rear rotor but on the 20B you remove the front rotor assembly first
