How to transfer emails from one computer to
another.

In order to transfer your emails from one computer to another there does not
seem to be a built in method in any of the Microsoft Outlook products. Exporting
and importing do nothing except to transfer from one type of email handling
program to another, within the same computer.
Read through the entire set of instructions and be sure you understand them and
have the skills necessary to accomplish this before you do anything. Neither the
author nor this website will held responsible for any damages that may arise
from your attempt to interpret and implement these tips.
In order to accomplish this you need to go to the following location on the old
computer (the source) ***** C:\Documents and Settings\owner (or this will be
the name you entered as a user)\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook\****** and copy the "extend.dat" and the "outlook.pst".
Put them in a temporary folder on the desktop. From the target computer ( the
one you want to install the files in) access the source computer's desktop and
the files you have placed on the desktop folder, by using your "network places"
or else just load them on a USB stick or similar. Once you have them in the new
computer then proceed to paste them in the same folder ****** C:\Documents
and Settings\owner\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\ *****
in the new computer only after you have placed the existing files in the target
folder in a new folder marked "old".
Likewise follow this source computer's path ***** C:\Documents and
Settings\o2bez\Local Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{DC40B654-6026-4B52-AAF7-9998CE175EAF}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express\Outbox.dbx****** until you get to the \identities\ folder
where you will see a numerical folder such as the
{DC40B654-6026-4B52-AAF7-9998CE175EAF} in this example then go through it to
the \Microsoft\Outlook Express\ and copy all the files (.dbx) and
place them in the similar address in the new computer where the numerical file
will likely be different, but once again, only after you have placed the
pre-exiting .dbx files in a new folder marked "old".
The reason for saving the pre-existing files is so you can restore them in the
event you mess up.

An alternate and less substantiating way would be to set up a new email account
on the new computer and just forward all the email from the old computer to this
email address and open them on the new computer, You would have to create the
desired folders and then go through and sort the emails into the correct
folders. A whole lot more hassle and less legitimate if you needed the files for
a point of law.
If you are migrating to a new computer you will want to bring your 'ADDRESS
BOOK" with you as well.
This is easily done by using the "Export" feature in the
source computer address book under the "file" menu and save it a to a file named
"Address book" on the desktop and then transfer this file to the desktop of the
new target computer and the use the "Import" feature in its address book
programs and point at the file you just transferred.
